In Memory of Chief Deputy
Kevin Roberts

It is with great sadness that Sheriff Chris Houston and the members of the Greene County Sheriff's Office announce the passing of Chief Deputy Kevin Roberts. Chief Roberts was a loved and well respected member of the Sheriff’s Office but more importantly a friend to all.  In the words of Sheriff Chris Houston, “Kevin was the perfect community police officer” and his presence will be missed not only by the Sheriff’s Office employees but the community he served.

Chief Roberts became the Chief Deputy of the Greene County Sheriff's Office in 1999 and was a career lawman. He proudly served the citizens of Greene County and the State of Georgia for 26 years beginning as an Officer with the Georgia Department of Corrections. Chief Roberts worked as a Police Officer with the cities of Union Point and Greensboro before coming to the Sheriff’s Office.

Chief Roberts lived up to his philosophy that “crime is not a police problem but a community problem” in the way that he interacted with those he served and the fact that he was available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Chief Roberts lived and died serving the citizens of Greene County and we honor his sacrifice with these words: Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.  John 15:13

Although words cannot express the grief that we feel at this time, we will continue to remember Chief Roberts and the example he leaves behind.

Chief Roberts is survived by his wife, two daughters and two grandchildren as well as his Sheriff’s Office family and we ask that they be remembered in your thoughts and prayers
