Identity Theft is a critical issue that violates an individual’s privacy and adversely impacts consumer confidence in the business community. In July 1998, the State of Georgia made the use of someone else’s identity to obtain something of value a felony O.C.G.A. 16-9-120 through 16-9-127.
Attached is a checklist of places to contact immediately after you learn that you have become a victim of identity theft. Make sure you contact your local bank, credit card company, and social security administration.
