The Greene County Detention Center is a pre-trial facility where persons accused of crimes that cannot bond out await their court date.  The Greene County Detention Center also houses persons sentenced to serve up to twelve months of confinement in a local setting and persons sentenced for more serious crimes until bed space is available with the Georgia Department of Corrections.

Major Stevie Griffin began his law enforcement career in 1992 with the Madison Police Department. He transferred to the Greene County Sheriff's Office in 1998 and was soon promoted to the position of Jail Administrator, overseeing all daily operations of the Detention Center and supervision of all jail staff.
